고부간

Pregnant with my first child, I watched with excitement as my obstetrician did an ultrasound. He gave me a photo of the baby, who at 12 weeks resembled an extraterrestrial. When I showed the picture to my mother-in-law, she looked at it skeptically. “Hmm,” she said, turning to me. “The baby must take after your side of the family.”

첫 애를 가진 나는 들뜬 마음으로 의사가 보여주는 초음파영상을 지켜봤다. 의사는 그 사진을 나에게 건네줬는데, 12주 된 아이는 외계인을 닮은 모습이었다. 나는 그 사진을 시어머니에게 보여드렸는데 긴가민가하며 그것을 들여다보시더니 말하는 것이었다. “흠, 얘는 너희 쪽을 닮았구나, 얘.”

*take after : ~을 닮다
김윤순 It seems that there is a feud between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law to say nothing of all ages and countries.I heard a friend of mine who got married a little early divorced after just one year due to her mother -in-law.She was widow and thought as daughter-in-law took her son.She was so sad that she struggled through her mental hurt crying in front of their room every night.my friend said she was unbearable that conditions more.I\\\'m anxious to know how she is after that. 2012-05-07 20:26     
 
김덕희 It\\\'s not strange at all there\\\'s a conflict between mother-in -law and her daughter-in -law.It\\\'s a kind of generation conflict and struggle between two lovers,young and old.The house became a bloody battle field.A beautiful young lady stole mother\\\'s pet and took all her son\\\'s money. My late mother-in -law thought me as her slave .Now I became a mother-in-law but the environment chaged a lot . Mothers-in -law becme tigers without teeth.Oh! good old days!! 2012-05-07 20:26     
 
원제혁 If the writter of this humor is western, there must do exist mental conflict between wife and her mother-in-law even in western family resembled that of Korean. \\\'Their conflicts seem to take after Korean\\\' may not be good expression. 2012-05-07 20:26
